What is The Usual Sus?
The Usual Sus is a noir deduction game for one, for Playdate. Question seven suspects around a card table, read the lies, and arrest every crook before the heat reaches 10.
Every suspect claims a role and has something to say. Most tell you what they know, but the crooks wear a cover and lie. Work your way up from Patrolman to Lieutenant through 32 cases in four districts, from the Blue Moon Club to Chinatown, plus a daily case. A solver checks every case, so it comes down to reading people, not luck.
How to play
- Question a suspect
Step to a seat with the D-pad and tap A. The card turns over to show the role they claim and what they say.
- Read the lies
Most suspects tell the truth. The crooks wear a cover and lie, so check every claim against the others.
- Stamp a read
Tap B to mark a suspect Clean, Crook or Shady. Hold B for the guest list of every role in the room.
- Sign the warrant
Hold A to open a warrant and keep holding to sign it. Let go and the warrant is torn up.
- Watch the heat
Arrest a clean suspect and the heat rises. At 10 heat, or if you arrest the Fed, you're off the case.
- Close the case
Put every crook in cuffs to close it, and climb from Patrolman to Lieutenant across 32 cases.
